Egypt Urges Citizens National Strike


The protesters Egypt, Monday (31/1/2011), calls for general strike and said they were planning a "million man march" on Tuesday, to mark the week anti-government protests took place.

"It was decided last night that there will be 1 million people rallied on Tuesday," said Eid Mohammed, one of the protesters and organizers, told AFP. "We also decided to launch an indefinite general strike deadline," he said.

The strike was first called by the workers in the Suez Canal on Sunday night. "We will join with workers Suez and began to mass general strike until our demands are met," said Mohammed Waked, another protest organizer, told AFP.

In Tahrir Square, hundreds of demonstrators camped overnight in an effort to continue the huge anti-government protests that have been in power for three decades.

President Hosni Mubarak for the first time appointed a vice president in the 30 administration and a new prime minister in a desperate attempt to stay in power. In Tahrir Square, the protesters insisted on not leaving until Mubarak down. They shouted, "We will not leave this square until it fell down the coward. "
